Biography

Clémentine du Pontavice is a socially engaged artist, author and illustrator.
Her work is permeated by feminist issues, but what drives her above all is her concern for other people and living things. She likes to experiment with what happens at the frontier between the worlds of health, social aid, care and creation.
She has written and illustrated the children’s book “A quoi tu penses” (What do you think?), published by L’école des loisirs.
There’s no age for questions, there’s no age for being a philosopher with Géraldine Mosna-Savoye, “Journal intime de mon corps” (Diary of my body), which tackles issues related to puberty (in collaboration with Ghada Hatem). Truc de fille ou de garçon? on gender stereotypes, “Seul(s) au monde? on differences, and “Dans quel monde vit-on? on ecology.
She has also co-written with Ghada Hatem and illustrated a book on sexuality for teenagers: “Le Sexe et l’Amour dans la vraie vie” (Sex and Love in Real Life), published by First.
Clémentine also set up the “Réparer l’intime” programme with photographer Louise Oligny. For the past 7 years, they have been running weekly workshops at the Maison des Femmes de Saint Denis, the Pitié-Salpêtrière hospital and the Bichât hospital, helping vulnerable women and victims of violence to rebuild their lives and regain their self-esteem through jewellery, photography and drawing.
In this context, she develops artistic projects in collaboration with institutions (Banlieues Bleues, DRAC, Monuments Nationaux).
At the same time, she regularly exhibits her personal artistic work in galleries.
A graduate of CELSA, she spent 15 years at the head of Hop Hop Hop, a jewellery brand made in France and sold all over the world.
