Support system for carrying out long research internships.
Objectives of this grant
The aim of this support scheme is to encourage long-term research internships (from 3 to 6 months) within cultural institutions in France.
These internships will be intended in particular to encourage the study of funds or collections or more broadly, to support any scientific development project carried out by the institution concerned.
Payment terms
4.35/hour in accordance with the regulations in force for the remuneration of more than two month internships in France (i.e. approximately €650/month in full-time equivalent).
Once the application has been accepted, a placement agreement is signed between the student, the research laboratory and the tutor.
Eligibility criteria
Duly registered student at the UJM within the eligibility scope of the Graduate initiative plan.
Number of scholarships
Au total, 21 mois de gratification de stage seront distribués pour permettre la réalisation de ces stages, selon deux modalités distinctes :
- sur propositions de thématiques et de sujets émanant d’institutions culturelles ;
- sur appel à candidatures auprès des étudiant.e.s.
Les stages pourront se dérouler de façon continue ou discontinue selon un calendrier à établir de façon concertée entre l’institut culturelle d’accueil, le.la stagiaire et le.la responsable du stage.
Location and subject of the internships
Axis 1: proposals for themes and subjects from cultural institutions:
The ARTS Institute is calling for tenders for subjects or themes for research internships of 3 to 6 months, from cultural institutions that are members and partners of the ARTS Institute, with a view to collecting proposals which are then presented to students.
Students interested in one of these proposals must identify a dissertation supervisor, then send their application to the cultural institution concerned for selection.
The list of proposed themes and subjects from cultural institutions will be communicated during the information webinars and can be broadcast on request.
Axis 2: call for applications from students. :
Students can apply for this support system, after having first identified a welcoming cultural institution and a memory manager.

How to apply
Application file to be submitted on the Adullact platform (link to come):
- CV
- Cover letter specifying the subject of the research thesis envisaged
Letter of support from the thesis tutor - Letter of acceptance from the host cultural institution.
Selection process
- The applications will be selected and ranked by the application examination committee, composed of the master’s supervisors of the G+ scope and the Directors of the Graduate+ ARTS.
- The commission ensures that special situations are taken into account (disability, social criteria, first generation at university, etc.).
Award criteria
- Criterion 1: Academic excellence (60%)
- Criterion 2: Academic training, link with research (20%)
- Criterion 3: Motivations and interpersonal skills (20 %)

Attribution history
2023/2024
During the selection committee on November 21, 2023, on the basis of the quality of the research dissertation project and the coherence of his professional project, the jury decided to award this internship grant to Hassani RIDJALI, Master 1 student in Digital Geography. Backed by the EVS research laboratory, directed by Michel Depeyre, this internship will be carried out for a period of 5 months at the Municipal Archives of the City of Saint-Étienne.

2024/2025
The results were notified to the candidates during the week of December 2, 2024. As part of this system, and on the basis of the quality of the research dissertation project and the coherence of her professional project, the jury decided to award this internship grant to Lucie Postel, a Master 1 Geomatics student who will do a 4-month internship at the Municipal Archives of Saint-Étienne, supported by the EVS research laboratory, directed by Michel Depeyre, from March 2025.
